Children are very welcome at St Mark’s. We want children to feel safe and integral to all that we do.
The Sunday School meets on the second and fourth Sundays of each month (holidays excepted) and is open to all children. Families are invited to arrive at church in time for the start of the 10.30 am Sung Eucharist on the second and fourth Sundays. Soon after the start of the service, the children are taken down by the leader and helper for an abbreviated act of worship, followed by a short teaching session, in time to return to receive a blessing at the end of the service. The leader and helper are DBS checked.
On the first Sunday of each month at 9.30 am there is a Children’s Eucharist, which lasts no more than 30 minutes. In this short act of worship we invite families with children to a service, with a talk aimed at children, and where all that we do is designed to familiarise the children with the building and with the riches of the tradition of worship we treasure and wish to pass on. We hope they can feel able to participate fully and discover more about the life of Christ and grow in faith and love.
We hope that the older children will go on to be Confirmed and then take part in our serving team, and when homework allows share fellowship with each other.
Our practice and policy with children’s work complies with the Diocese of London’s Safeguarding Policy.
Please come and join us and feel welcome to be part of what we do with and for children.
